For the first time, 8 Ukrainian startups selected by the Ukrainian Startup Foundation (USF) are participating in the largest consumer electronics exhibition CES 2022. This year the exhibition was held offline from January 5 to 7 in Las Vegas and brought together more than 2,000 companies.

Doctoral student of the ITS department Kotukh Yevhen took part in the exhibition, where he presented one of the Ukrainian startup projects Unlink VR.

Unlink VR — is a virtual reality helmet that uses laser beams instead of wires, which allow you to play without restricting your movements and without worrying about touching something.

The basis for the creation of the product was the developed optical communication system based on laser radiation, which provides a permanent connection with a speed of more than 40 Gbit / s, and monitors the operation of the receiver in continuous communication mode.

Such a system has many opportunities for use in practice. For example, optical communication channels can be used in the construction of quantum secure communication channels. Employees and graduate students of the ITS department are engaged in similar research within the framework of the grant project “Quantum-driven security in emerging 5G networking”.

At the end of December 2021, Kotukh Yevhen, a doctoral student at the Department of Information Technology Security, as a representative of the Ukrainian project team, paid a working visit to the University of Colorado Springs (USA) at the invitation of the American side.

The purpose of the visit was to report on the results of research on the creation of quantum-protected channels of 5G networks, discussions and debates on further ways of project development.

The American colleagues of the project presented the infrastructure of the University of Colorado Springs, scientific developments and cybersecurity projects developed at the Faculty of Computer Science of the University, as well as the work of scientific laboratories directly involved in research on quantum network security technologies.

According to the results of the meeting, the parties noted the high efficiency of cooperation, agreed on the next stages of research and discussed options for publication and testing of the results.

The program of the next visit of KNURE scientists to the University of Colorado Springs, namely Professor Gennady Khalimov and graduate student of the department Alexander Marukhnenko, scheduled for February 2022, was also discussed.

From November 24 to 25, 2021, he had the opportunity to communicate with teachers of the department, as well as with the team of the Ukrainian-American scientific project “Quantum-driven security in emerging 5G networking”.

In 2021, the project won the US Civil Engineering and Development Foundation’s (CRDF Global) cybersecurity competition. The project coordinators are Hennadiy Khalimov, Head of the ITS Department, and Maksym Kolisnyk, Head of the PR Department. The project is funded by the US Department of State.

Within this stage of the project there were working meetings, an open lecture for applicants majoring in 125 Cybersecurity on the topic:”Quantum-driven security in emerging 5G networking”, a research workshop and a presentation of the infrastructure of KNURE, as well as scientific developments and projects on cybersecurity, which are being developed at the Department of Information Technology Security.

In his presentation, Ivan Dmitrievich spoke about the achievements and prospects in the field of cryptographic protection of information at the national level, considered examples of successful use of standardization of cryptographic transformations in various fields, focused on issues and prospects of new national standards.

He also demonstrated the latest developments of JSC “IIT”, which specializes in providing services in the field of design, development and implementation of solutions for information security in modern information and telecommunications systems for different purposes and different levels of complexity.
